submission rules

The selection process for the Colombia Percussion Project is designed to identify artistic excellence, creativity in percussion writing, and musical innovation. All submissions will be reviewed by an international panel of experts from Universidad EAFIT and the UMKC Conservatory.

  • Open to composers of Colombian nationality or residence
  • Must submit a portfolio of up to three (3) representative compositions in any instrumentation, but ideally highlighting percussion writing
  • One (1) composer will be selected to write a 10-20 minute work for percussion quartet
  • The selected composer will receive $2000 USD, a professional recording of the work by percussionists from EAFIT and UMKC, and a performance of the work at Universidad EAFIT (Medellín, CO) in August, 2027.
  • Portfolio is due October 15, 2026
  • The selected composer will be announced on this website on November 15, 2026
  • If selected, the composer must deliver the completed work no later than May 15, 2027
